Application of hardfacing alloy for engine valve

Inlet valves and Exhaust valves are main parts of automobile engine, it’s quality will have a big influence for engine, such as power、fuel consumption and some other main performance.

The highest working temperature place of engine valve is valve end face and valve neck. These parts request high thermal strength and good anti-corrosion property.
The conical surface which be in touch with valve seat is another dangerous area, this area has very high requirements of anti-thermal corrosion, thermal fatigue, thermal wear, etc.
Valve pole and valve head is thermal wear area, this area request superior property of anti-attrition and anti-wear.
Working environment of Exhaust valves is extremely severe, the highest working temperature can reach to 800-900℃. Engine valve will generate and bear huge shock load when it connect with valve seat. It also need to bear high speed washing from flue gas. In this harsh working environment, engine valve will always meet situation of deformation、corrosion、burning loss、seat wear and crack, etc. Like below photo.
