Welding & Thermal Spraying Powder of Wisdom
Wisdom’s hardfacing welding and thermal spraying powder is produced by three typical techniques: gas atomization - gas cooling, gas atomization - water cooling, and water atomization - water cooling. After raw materials having been melt, steel water will enter into atomization procedure that is classified as gas and water. The two types use distinct systems as the picture shown: vertical and horizontal.

Vertical is the production process we have been using for centuries. It is inherited from Kennametal STELLITE as three of our chief engineers have more than 25-year experience in the company. It could be used for general purpose. On the contrary, horizontal is the same as Höganäs, which is used for special goals that we intend to achieve.
The two processes are distinguished by oxidization circumstance. Hence, what production process will be chosen is totally based on what powder is going to be cooked. For instance, if a customer needs nickel base powder (Deloro equivalent) in pump industry, we will probably use water atomization because for example Ni60 has a high composition of Boron and Silicon that has good resistant to oxidization. The property is called self-deoxygenation. On the other hand, if a customer asks for cobalt base powder (Stellite equivalent) in valve industry, we only use gas atomization process.
Besides the comprehensive manufacture equipment, our experts can control any physical and chemical attributes on powder. A recent report coming from a comparative experiment on Stellite 6 powder 150/53 shows that our powder could challenge Höganäs's dominance. As demonstrated in the below diagram, it’s not a question that our techniques on both fluidity and apparent density has exceed Kennametal STELLITE.
| Kennametal STELLITE | Wisodm | Höganäs | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fluidity (s/50g) | 14.5 - 15.8 | 14.0 | 13.0 - 13.5 |
| Apparent density (g/cm3) | 4.2 – 4.3 | 4.5 | 4.7 - 4.8 |
