Application of Thermal Spray Technology in Oil Exploitation

1, Corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant ball valve

For metal seat ball valves in pipes with corrosive mortar at temperature up to 540℃ and pressure up to 140 MPa, using HVOF to spray WC-12Co , WC-17Co coating, Cr2C3-NiCr coating Or WC-10Ni coating can greatly improve the corrosion resistance and erosion resistance of the ball valve and improve the reliability and service life.

2, Sucker rod

3, Valve (valve seat / valve plate)Different kinds of valves, valve seats and valve plates used in the petrochemical industry have to bear the inter-metal wear and abrasive wear. Using thermal spraying technology to spray 87% Al2O3+13%TiO2, WC-12Co and WC-17Co powder or other ceramic materials on the surface of the valve to form ceramic coatings can improve its wear resistance.

4, The pump plungerPump plunger is subjected to high-pressure liquid corrosion and material wear when working. The base material is generally 45 steel. The general methods for processing the plunger of the oil well pump are surface chrome plating, electroless nickel-phosphorus plating and surface spray-welded nickel based alloy. At present, thermal spray ceramic coatings have been used as a new treatment process to manufacture pump plungers. Using thermal spraying technology to spray 87% Al2O3+13% TiO2 ceramic materials or WC-12Co, WC-17Co powder materials on the surface of the plunger can significantly improve the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of the plunger. For flame spraying, the pump specification requires the surface hardness of the spray plunger to be HRC ≥ 53. The plunger spray should take nickel-based powder, of which the powder model is generally Ni55 and Ni60.

5, Mud pump impellerThe working state of the mud pump impeller is slurry wear. Using HVOF to spray WC 12Co, WC 17Co and other wear-resistant coating materials can significantly improve the service life of mud pump impeller.

6, Mud pump cylinder linerWe originally used wear-resistant alloy or high-chromium cast iron centrifugal casting, but the service life of the wear-resistant alloy was not satisfactory and the consumption of centrifugal casting material was big and the production yield was poor, so they were replaced with 45 steel. The service life of high chromium cast iron mold can be prolonged remarkably by using oxygen-acetylene flame spray welding for Ni-WC or plasma spray welding for high-chromium cast iron materials, especially for the latter coatings, in which there forms much Cr7C13, having excellent abrasive wear performance.  

7, Drill bit, drill pipe, drill pipe jointExplosive spraying WC-17Co/WC-12Co coating is successfully applied to the drill bit, improving the wear resistance, corrosion resistance and erosion resistance of the drill bit. The composite alloy coating can also be prepared on the surface of the synthetic diamond drill bit with plasma spraying. Drill pipe joint uses plasma spray welding for high chromium cast iron material. The coating thickness is more than 2 mm, and the width is about 25 mm. The service life increases more than 8 times.

8, Shaft, bushingAfter using plasma spraying or HVOF spraying for Al2O3+TiO2 (Cr2O3/WC-17Co/WC-12Co/Ni-Cr-B-Si) and sealing process, the shaft and sleeve can resist strong acid and alkali corrosion at 250-350 ℃ with good friction reduction and wear resistance and can be used in sports working face.
